The Magic FC Have A New Co-Owner

The Magic FC has a new co-owner and has loaned two players to their Absa Premiership neighbours, Cape Town City. Read: Comitis Not Emotional Magic have sold part of their franchise to Kensington businessman, Miles October, whose PlaySport4Life foundation is dedicated to helping youngsters in sport, and are now hoping to push for honours in the ABC Motsepe League. The club's owner, former Bafana Bafana and AmaZulu striker George Dearnaley, confirmed the involvement of October and the transfer of Cole Solomon and Aqeel Jappie, saying, "Both have signed for City. I think they'll be in the MDC team, although I'm not sure of their contract status. The pair played for us last season, having previously come from the Old Mutual Academy, with whom we're affiliated. "Mr October's doing great work in the Kensington community by providing sports equipment to schools, as well as coaching for rugby, hockey, netball and soccer. I'm head coach this season. My assistants are Keegan Walker, who just passed his UEFA B license with a distinction, and former Cape Town Spurs player Zane Alexander. "Our division is a fiercely contested league, with a combination of teams linked to pro clubs like Milano United, Ajax Cape Town and United of Stellenbosch, as well as some really tough away games in Beaufort West and Atlantis." After the acquisition of Shaeed Mobara – the older brother of Bafana Bafana defender Abbubaker Mobara – Melcolm Meyer, Ryan Brooks and Tefo Xowana, Dearnley is optimistic about the future, saying, "With our blend of youth and experience, we're hoping to challenge the top teams for the title this season."
