In issue number 1171 of Soccer Laduma, Teko 'The General' Modise named three players who he thinks are strong candidates for the Footballer of the Season award.
The 37-year-old retired midfielder won back-to-back Footballer of the Season awards in 2008 and 2009 during his professional career, this while on the books of Orlando Pirates.
Speaking in this week's edition of Soccer Laduma, Modise named Mamelodi Sundowns' Themba Zwane and Kaizer Chiefs' Lebogang Manyama and Samir Nurkovic as his three contenders for the annual award.

"There (are) three. First, it's Lebo (Lebogang) Manyama. The type of football he plays now is different to what he was doing for Cape Town City," The General told Soccer Laduma.
"Then there's Nurkovic. He came in and the way he has stamped his authority is amazing. I think Themba Zwane has been outstanding and he is ahead of the pack. He is scoring and he has played so many games and his stats are crazy and he is consistent," he added.

Manyama has missed just one game for Kaizer Chiefs all season and has played an instrumental role in their run for the league title.
The 29-year-old has on four occasions scored match-winning goals in the Absa Premiership for Amakhosi; he scored two goals in a 3-2 win over Highlands Park and scored the only goal in 1-0 wins over Baroka FC, Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates.
On the other hand, Nurkovic is Chiefs' current top goal-scorer, hitting the back of the net 12 times in all competitions this season.
