Swallows FC's Dylan Kerr Hits Out At Coaches Who Applied For His Job

Swallows FC's Dylan Kerr Hits Out At Coaches Who Applied For His Job

Swallows FC coach Dylan Kerr says it's ridiculous how many people applied for his position after the end of last season.

Kerr recently renewed his contract with the Dube Birds after ensuring that the club maintained its topflight status. According to the coach, there were coaches from around the world who applied for his job, but says he and chairman David Mogashoa always knew that he would be back to coach the side for the 2022/23 season.

This is quite different for Kerr, considering the fact that he is someone who clubs have called on during the season to save them from relegation, as has been the case with Black Leopards, Baroka FC, Marumo Gallants and the Dube Birds last term.

Now, he will have an opportunity to start the season with the club and it's no surprise that he is excited.

"It's all new to me. It's like I am in a dream and I am looking forward to it. I knew after the play-offs that I was coming back to Swallows, but you know how the press talks. It's ridiculous how many people applied for the job from all over the world. It's disrespectful to people like myself that I knew, but the media didn't know about. But the chairman and I knew that I was coming back and we knew what we had to do. We need to change the perception of what happened last year for the better," Kerr told the Siya crew recently at the DStv Premiership launch.

Swallows start their campaign away from home against Orlando Pirates in the original Soweto Derby. A good start could set the tone for the season, as Swallows look to make up for the disappointing campaign they had last time round.

The club, meanwhile, has parted ways with the likes of Lebohang Mokoena and Tebogo Langerman.
