Libyan giants Al-Ittihad had initially considered signing Siyanda Xulu before ultimately securing the services of Thatayaone Ditlhokwe from Kaizer Chiefs, the Siya crew has learnt.
Ditlhokwe, 26, completed a big money move to the ambitious Libyan outfit last week, strengthening their defensive line.

However, sources close to the situation have revealed that Xulu was also on Al-Ittihad's radar during their search for reinforcements.
"Al-Ittihad were interested in Siyanda. The possible move was discussed between the club and the player's representatives, and everything looked to be on course," a source confirmed.
"But they saw TT (Ditlhokwe), and because left-footed centre-backs are scarce, they opted for him. He can also play as a left-back, which made him an even more attractive option," the source added.
Xulu, who has drawn interest from clubs in Malta, Sudan, and South America, has been carefully weighing his next move.
Following his departure from SuperSport United at the end of last season, the experienced defender remains undecided on whether to continue his career overseas or return to the PSL.

While the Al-Ittihad opportunity did not materialise for Xulu, the seasoned defender remains a sought-after player in the market.
