Shakes Mashaba says his love for coaching forced him back into the hot seat at troubled NFD side, Witbank Spurs earlier this month.
The former Bafana Bafana mentor has been given until the end of the season to help the struggling outfit avoid being relegated to the amateur ranks – a request the 68-year-old admits he had to mull over before accepting.
"It not that difficult to go back to something you love," Mashaba told the Siya crew this week.
"When I was approached I sat down with my family and they encouraged to take the job. I knew it would come, but it has always been a question of when it would happen – it's a good feeling."
Mashaba was dismissed from his Bafana job in December 2016 after a drawn-out disciplinary process, which in the end found him to be guilty of gross misconduct, insubordination and bringing SAFA into disrepute.

He's not been in any coaching job since, apart from being one of the talent scouts for the Nedbank Ke Yona team alongside Owen Da Gama and Khabo Zondo.
"I am not new to coaching a professional team. I coached Vaal Reef Stars, Black Leopards, Manning Rangers and Free State Stars – so this is just a revival of all those things. The difference is that I was mostly managing national teams in recent years and there you work in breaks. But at club level, it will be every day and that is the challenge I am going to face now because I am going back to that stress. There will be no stop stations here," Mashaba explained.
Spurs are rooted to the bottom of the NFD log table after 16 matches.
