Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana central defender, Siyabonga Sangweni, played for the full 90 minutes in a friendly against newly promoted PSL side, Polokwane City FC, on Tuesday.
Sangweni has only recently resumed full training with the Bucs team after sustaining a knee injury which saw him side-lined for roughly three months.
The 31-year-old endured weeks of light training before entering full training with the rest of his Bucs teammates a few weeks ago.
Ntsimbi, as he is affectionately known, featured in a friendly match for roughly 60 minutes late last week, however was able to see out a full game today.
Sangweni endured the full 90 minutes in a friendly match against Polokwane City, where Bucs ran out 3-1 winners, with goals from Thulasizwe Mbuyane, Khethokwakhe Masuku and Aubrey Ngoma.
Pirates' assistant coach, Eric Tinkler, told the Siya crew that Sangweni is looking good and finished the game without any problems.
Tinkler told Soccer-Laduma, "He played the full 90 and came through it without any problems. This was his first full match for a long time. He did well today, even though he is still a little bit unfit. He featured in a friendly the other day too, but only for about 60 minutes."
Bucs management and fans alike will be glad to see Sangweni return to the first team, but he won't be rushed back to first team action just yet.
"He is coming along nicely, but we are not going to rush him back. He will need to get through two more friendlies before we'll consider him for selection," added Tinkler.
