The football fraternity is in mourning again, following the devastating news of the passing of yet another footballer.
Sanele 'Zulu' Mthembu was shot and killed on the weekend in Cape Town, and the motive behind his killing is unknown at this stage.
Mthembu, who was on the books of Western Cape lower league club Police FC, has been described as a talented footballer who had the passion for the game and was determined to make success out of the sport.
Born in Umlazi in KwaZulu-Natal, Mthembu came through the youth system of Ajax Cape Town, and former SA U20 captain Ayabulela Konqobe was his teammate at one stage at the Ikamva-based club.
"It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our attacking midfielder Sanele "Zulu" Mthembu. He was shot last night in his neighborhood. May your soul rest in peace Zulu," Police FC confirmed in a statement on their official Facebook page.
Soccer Laduma sends condolences to the family and friends of Mthembu during this difficult time.
