After a month's delay, the Safa Second Division National Play-Offs have just got under way at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton, with nine provincial winners each fighting for just two spots in the National First Division.
During the week-long competition, games are scheduled to also take place at the Mehlareng and Makhulong Stadiums, with the latter venue hosting the final next Sunday.
But preparations for this tournament have been hampered by an unprecedented number of arbitration cases.
For example, when the draw was held last week at Safa House, only five clubs participated because sides from the Western Cape, North West, KwaZulu Natal and Limpopo were still battling it out in court.
Since then another three teams have been added, but a Safa source has revealed that the results of the final case involving two North West outfits will only be decided at about 16:00 this afternoon.
"The club from the North West will be decided later today," he told Soccer-Laduma. "In any case they weren't scheduled to play today so it doesn't disrupt proceedings."
The eight participants are as follows: Vardos FC (Gauteng), Maluti FET College (Free State), Mbombela United FC (Mpumalanga), Young Stars FC (Northern Cape), Mthatha Bucks FC (Eastern Cape), Cape Town All Stars (Western Cape), Baroka (Limpopo) and Amajuba United FC (KZN).
