SAFA remain steadfast in presidential elections

SAFA remain steadfast in presidential elections

Though it appears that the road to the election of a new President at the South African Football Association may be beset with numerous obstacles, Siya sources have revealed that the FA remains unshaken.

It was reported in various media that a new forum, the National Football Consultative Forum (NFCF) whose purpose is to lobby for a regime change within SAFA's structures was launched this past Monday.

However, Siya Sources close to SAFA have declared that FA's election process will go ahead as planned in accordance with its long-standing statutes.

"There have been calls for SAFA to changes its governing laws for the conveniences of others. That will never happen," said the Siya source.

"We are committed to ensuring that a successful election takes place and this will happen the way it's always happened, according to the laws within SAFA," affirmed the source.

Meanwhile, SAFA's election of a new president has been met with other challenges such as the FA's former vice-president Chief Mwelo Nonkonyana who took SAFA to court and lost his alleged unfair dismissal case.

The election for the new SAFA president is scheduled to take place on 24 March where current president Dr Danny Jordan is expected to be re-elected.
