The win against Kaizer Chiefs has restored the confidence in Cape Town City who are targeting the MTN8 trophy after losing out to Mamelodi Sundowns last season.
The Citizens are oozing with confidence after defeating Amakhosi 2-0 in the league on Tuesday and are targeting AmaZulu in their MTN8 quarter-final match at Athlone Stadium this coming Saturday.
The Mother City team's head coach Eric Tinkler is convinced that his side can turn the tables against Usuthu in cup after losing against them two weeks ago in the league,
"Normally the league starts with the MTN8 but we are already five games in and now we face AmaZulu. We obviously already played them in the league, so we know what to expect from them. Unfortunately, we lost against them away, but I thought the performance on the day wasn't bad, we had chances to possibly win that game. But they are in pretty good form at the moment, they've had very good results, they find themselves sitting at the top of the log, so it's not going to be an easy game," said Tinkler, speaking to the media.
"It's going to be tough but hopefully now after this win against Chiefs, the motivation, the confidence and the morale will be a lot higher and obviously we would love to see ourselves moving on in the competition. I mean, we got all the way to the final and we were one kick away from winning it, and obviously we would like to see ourselves taking it one step further," the coach concluded.
