Calvin Kadi scored a late goal to earn Wits a 1-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in their Absa Premiership clash on Saturday, at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium.
Wits had the first chance of the game when Benjani Mwaruwari struck a firm shot which was well-held by Patrick Tignyemb in the Celtic goal with six minutes played.
Striker Lerato Manzini had the first shot at goal for the home side, but his seventh minute effort was off target.
Limbikani Mzava whipped in a dangerous ball into the box on the 26th minute but it was well dealt with by the Clever Boys defence.
Lerato Lamola had the next chance of the game in the 29th minute but the forward struck his effort just wide.
Lamola then got on the end of a Lerato Manzini cross which went just over the crossbar in the 34th minute.
Mwaruwari almost opened the scoring five minutes before the first-half ended when he got his head on the end of a Siyabonga Nhlapo cross, but it went wide of the target.
Siyabonga Nhlapo had the first shot of the second-half when Tebogo Moerane played a long ball over the defence but Tignyemb was on hand to make the save.
With the game looking to end in a stalemate, Calvin Kadi popped up in the 90th minute to head Wits into a 1-0 lead and steal all three points for the Clever Boys.
