Teko Modise's bizarre strike in the second half secured a 1-0 win for Mamelodi Sundowns over Kaizer Chiefs in a Absa Premiership clash the FNB Stadium.
The win moves Sundowns level on points with Chiefs, but Stuart Baxter's side remain on top because of their superior goal difference.
Lebohang Mokoena had the first effort on target in the 14th minute as his powerful strike from distance was tipped over the bar by Itumeleng Khune.
Willard Katsande was next to have a go in the 21st minute but the Chiefs midfielder fired his effort horribly wide from the edge of the area.
Khune came to Chiefs' rescue once again in the 28th minute to brilliantly keep out Mokoena's glancing header.
Renielwe Letsholonyane came close to giving Chiefs the lead in the 37th minute but the midfielder's stinging shot flew inches over the crossbar.
George Lebese could have given Chiefs the lead just before halftime break but the winger's close range was parried away by Kennedy Mweene.
Tefu Mashamaite nearly opened the scoring in the 54th minute as his glancing header crashed onto the crossbar, before Nkhatha headed one onto the upright from close range.
Nkhatha should have opened the scoring in the 62nd minute but the Zimbabwean curled his effort just wide of the right-hand post.
Bongani Zungu tried his luck from distance in the 70th minute but the Sundowns midfielder fired his well wide of the mark.
The visitors took the lead in bizarre circumstances in the 75th minute as Teko Modise's floated ball into the box missed the head of Khama Billiat and found its way into the net.
Chiefs failed to create any openings in the closing stages as Sundowns held on for a important three points.
