Following a new twist in the ongoing Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, the South African Minister of Police Bheki Cele has requested a full report after the arrest of an advocate in court on Thursday.
Advocate Malesela Teffo, who represents four of the five men accused of killing the former Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, was arrested moments after proceedings in the High Court in Pretoria adjourned yesterday as the trial has been postponed to May 30.
The incident was captured by television cameras as the heavily armed police officers stormed into court to take Teffo to the Hillbrow police station.
As he was being arrested, Teffo alleged that Cele doesn't want him involved in the case while also insinuating that the police minister was allegedly behind his arrest.
However, through Police Ministry's spokesperson Lirandzu Themba, Cele is said to have requested a full report from the National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola in relation to Teffo's arrest.
"Minister of Police General Bheki Cele confirms that he has requested a full report from the National Commissioner on the arrest of Adv Teffo today at the Pretoria high court, including the manner in which the arrest was conducted by @SAPoliceService," confirmed Themba in a tweet.
