Young South African defender, Kgosi Ntlhe, says that it was hard sitting on the sidelines as he watched his team, Peterborough United, slump towards relegation, although believes that they put up a good fight.
An interview with the talented 19-year-old defender features in this week's edition of Soccer-Laduma, issue number 831, with Ntlhe speaking of his early days in South Africa and what it was like to score his first goal in English football.
However, the youngster's first season in The Posh's senior squad hasn't been completely enjoyable, having spent months on the sidelines after breaking his leg. Speaking to the Siya crew he explained how eager he was to help out.
He said, "I wanted to help my team, but I couldn't, I just had to support the team and get behind them. Even when we were struggling there was not a lot of stress in the club, because we all believed in each other. We actually did well to take it to the last game after our bad start."
The full-back, who has represented South Africa at U20 level, went on to share just how it felt after being called up to the senior team and ultimately breaking into Darren Ferguson's starting XI.
He added "At first it was kind of scary, I couldn't believe it. However, I then had a chat with the manager and he told me that I just needed to concentrate and that's what I did. I put my head down, concentrated and tried not to focus on any of the pressure.
"It was a pretty good experience, even though it all came so quickly. I need to thank my teammates, most of them looked after me and kept me calm and relaxed, it was the same with the manager."
