The 34-year-old scooped up the Man of the Match award as the Chilli Boys secured their safety with a 1-0 win over Chiefs.
Mzimela was a back-up goalkeeper from the start of the season to Daniel Akpeyi, who left the club to join Kaizer Chiefs in the January transfer window.
"Firstly I'd like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play because in the beginning of the season I was not in the team so when the other goalkeeper [Daniel Akpeyi] left I got an opportunity to play. Even in our last match I was the Man of the Match," Mzimela told SuperSport TV.
"When we went for the second half, the coach told me I had to pick up [my performance] and help the defenders, so we can win this game. I was calm and relaxed to make sure I organise my defence very well," he continued.
"You know I was having this thing in the inside of me [because] last season we got relegated at Platinum Stars and at the play-offs I didn't get the chance to play. The thing that I told myself when I came here, because I saw the team was down in the league when I joined, I told myself that I must help this team. I'm happy that in the end I did it," he said.
