One of the toughest things for anyone, be it in sport or life in general, is struggling to find a job despite having the qualifications. Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi knows this too well.
No matter how tough things have been, Tsotetsi has shown great determination by doing his coaches qualifications. The latest one he was doing was the CAF B License, but the challenge at times has been finding a job in the PSL.

Since retiring from the game, Tsotetsi has spent his time in the lower divisions and his biggest job has been with Maccabi, a club he coached in the National First Division (now Motsepe Foundation Championship) before their status was bought by Swallows FC. The reality is that there are only 32 clubs in the professional ranks of South African football and there are so many coaches seeking an opportunity.
"It's been really challenging. As you know, there are a lot of coaches who are established and there are coaches likes us who are still trying to get there and there are more coaches who are coming," he said to the Siya crew.
"So, the opportunities are limited. It's been challenging, but with patience and gathering knowledge through the qualifications, hopefully opportunities will come and things will be better. It has been really challenging, to be honest. Sometimes you ask yourself if we are all going to get an opportunity, but with patience and dedication, anything is possible."
With his coaching qualification, Tsotetsi can work in the professional ranks of South Africa. It's now about knocking on doors and hoping one eventually opens. Just last week, he secured a job as an assistant coach in Mpumalanga with Sivutsa, who play in the ABC Motsepe League.

"I was doing my CAF B License in Bethlehem. The experience was good, but challenging. It was eye-opening, so we are aligning and understanding what it means to improve the players and improve ourselves as coaches. This year, I am hoping to at least get an experience and go back to coaching in the Motsepe Foundation Championship or maybe get an opportunity as an assistant in the Betway Premiership, so that I can grow and reach my full potential. This my wish for this year. I also wanted to do my CAF A," Tsotetsi said.
