Mpumalanga Black Aces have announced that Mbulelo 'OJ' Mabizela has signed a new two-year contract.
As predicted by the Siya crew, Mabizela, who was on a short-term deal at Aces, put pen to paper yesterday following discussions with the Club co-chairman Mario Marfou," read a statement on the official Aces website.
"The Pietermaritzburg-born star will stay at Aces until the end of the 2016/17 season. The former Bafana Bafana captain who represented South Africa on 44 occasions (two goals), already has 15 starts under his belt in the AmaZayoni shirt, scoring one goal in the process.
"Such has been Mabizela's influence for Aces at the back that even calls for his inclusion in the national team surfaced throughout the season that just ended. The two-year acquisition of 'OJ' is indeed a major coup for the Club, considering that Aces had to shrug off other interests from various clubs to land the signature of a player seen by many as the best central defender this country has ever produced," added the statement.
Mabizela was rock solid for Aces at centre back after joining AmaZayoni in November last year and it's not surprising that Aces have decided to pin him down to a new contract.
Meanwhile, Aces have revealed that coach Clive Barker and the club management to discuss any player movements in the next few weeks, but are certain to retain the majority of the squad.
