Bloemfontein Celtic's new owner Max Tshabalala is one of the latest people in the local football fraternity to welcome new Bafana Bafana head coach Shakes Mashaba into the job.
Mashaba beat the likes of Carlos Quieroz and Frank Rijkaard to the hotly contested post that was left vacant after Safa did not choose to renew Gordon Igesund's contract when it expires in August. Mashaba's appointment was announced by the football mother body last Saturday and has been welcomed in various quarters, having been the overwhelming local favourite.
Tshabalala, who takes over the ownership of Phunya Sele Sele from the Augousti brothers, has come out in praise of the appointment of Mashaba and firmly says he thinks the Orlando Pirates legend is the right man to take the national team to greater heights and reclaim lost glory.
"I believe it is a great appointment for South African soccer, he is a coach who knows football in this country inside out. I would like to congratulate Shakes (Mashaba) and I believe he will make a great national coach as he has been there before and knows the culture of South African soccer players, which is a very important factor," he told Celtic's official website.
In addition, it has been announce that the Tshabalala family will take over their new reign as Celtic owners on Thursday. Max Tshabalala, as head of the family, addressed supporters and stakeholders at a Tsogo Sun Breakfast, on Sunday morning. Tsogo is one of Celtic's associate partners and accommodation sponsors.
