Manchester United Legends Defeat Orlando Pirates Legends On Penalties

The Manchester United legends needed penalties to defeat the Orlando Pirates legends in their friendly match at Ellis Park on Saturday evening.   The opening exchanges  proved to be a lively affair with Jesper Blomqvist rattling the post in the 17th minute and Paul Scholes spraying his trademark long balls around, while Jerry 'Legs of Thunder' Sikhosana proved to be a menace down the left flank.   And it was Pirates who opened the scoring in the 36th minute, as as Sikhosana headed home Steve Lekoelea's cross.   Pirates the doubled their lead in the 58th minute as Joseph Ngake fired into the bottom corner, after being released by Andries Sebola.   The United legends pulled one back in the 77th minute, before eventually pulling leveling thanks to a late header from French striker Louis Saha.   However it was the United legends who held their nerve to triumph 5-4 in the penalty shootout, as Dumasani Ngobe had his penalty saved.
