Overseas-Based Ex-PSL Midfielder Keen On PSL Move

Lesotho international winger Luciano Matsoso is the latest overseas-based player to express interest in returning home to ply his trade in the Betway Premiership, with a number of local clubs reportedly exploring the possibility of signing him.

Matsoso is currently on the books of MKS Oskar Przysucha, a second-division club in Poland, but is said to be eager for a fresh start back in Mzansi.

“There is interest from a few clubs in the PSL to bring Luciano Matsoso from MKS Oskar Przysucha in Poland,” confirmed Gerald Baloyi of Vodia Sport International, the player's representative.

“Talks are ongoing, and the player is open to the move.”

Matsoso’s potential return would follow a growing trend of local players opting to come back from overseas stints in search of regular game time and stability in the PSL.

The 30-year-old has previously played for Black Leopards and has had caps over the years for the Lesotho national team.

Just recently, Kaizer Chiefs have been linked with Mhleli Mabuza, a Portugal-based South African right-back who is currently with Louletano DC.

Earlier this year, Thabo Cele made headlines when he returned from Europe to join Kaizer Chiefs in the January transfer window.

The former Radomiak Radom midfielder had been campaigning in Poland’s topflight and in Russia respectively during his later years overseas, before he opted to return home, highlighting the shifting dynamics in the careers of local footballers abroad.

With more players looking to re-establish themselves domestically, and clubs more open to bringing home talent with international experience, Matsoso’s return could be the latest chapter in a growing list of repatriations benefiting the local game.
