The Nigerian defender finally completed the switch from Chippa to Pirates in January, although he was initially meant to join the Buccaneers at the end of last season, as reported by the Siya crew in May last year.
As reported by the Siya crew in July 2016, the move fell through at the last minute, which resulted in the centre-back spending the first-half of the 2016/17 season with Chippa.
In his interview in edition 1014 of the Soccer Laduma newspaper, Okwuosa confirmed how the switch from the Eastern Cape to Gauteng finally came about.
"Ja, it's a good feeling. It's very nice because I've been expecting it to happen and now everything has finally come together. This was supposed to happen before (last season), but due to some circumstances surrounding the deal, it couldn't happen. But, in the end, everything worked out well and I'm happy about it," said Okwuosa.
The 26-year-old says he received the blessings of his former coach at Chippa, Dan Malesela, on his way out of the Chilli Boys to join Bucs.
"We were in Cape Town for off-season training. While we were going back to Port Elizabeth, the call came through that I needed to go to Pirates for a medical. I wasn't expecting it, so I discussed it with the coach (Dan Malesela) and I told him I was going to Pirates. He said it's fine and he was happy for me. He told me to go there and make sure to do well. He wished me all the best," Okwuosa told Soccer Laduma.
