Well-travelled Zambian coach Jacob Sakala, who coached many different players at all the clubs he has been with over the years of his coaching career in South Africa, has put jotted down a team he believes would be his best ever in Mzansi's topflight.
Former Orlando Pirates defender and captain Lucky Lekgwathi, ex-Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Alex Bapela, as well as the late Thabang Lebese, who was one of the stars for Kaizer Chiefs in his heyday, would be among players in the legendary coach's PSL XI of all time.
"He was a good upside down walking player, but give him a chance to score a goal, he wouldn't disappoint. He was very slow though, but intelligent. I'm talking about players of yesterday," said Sakala, in describing Thapelo Liau, whom he coached at Ria Stars.
"I was a mobile university – a producer, professor, you name it, the only Sir in Africa, as popularly known to players. They are only two in the world (the other being, Sir Alex Ferguson, who managed Manchester United)," boasts Sakala.
Sakala's PSL XI of all time:
Mpangi Merikani (GK) – Lucky Lekgwathi (RB) – David Solopi (LB) – Tonic Chabalala (CB) – Gerald Raphahlela (CB) – Joel Seroba (RW) – Humphrey Sithole (CM) – Thapelo Liau (CM) – Sunday Kalunga (AM) – Josam Ndou (LW) – George Mathiba (ST)
Substitutes:
Joseph 'Stimela' Baloyi, Alex Bapela, Lifa Gqosha, Sidney Moshikaro, Thabang Lebese and Edward Motale, Jabulani Maluleke
