PSL chairman Irvin Khoza has confirmed that the Carling Black Label Cup will be played in a format similar to the Charity Cup.
According to the chairman of the league, four teams will be voted in by the supporters and the competition will be played over one day during the FIFA World Cup, when there will be no local football. The competition will be played on November 12.
Just like the Telkom Charity Cup of the past, all 16 teams in the league will have an opportunity to be voted for by the supporters of the league and will be played over one day, with festivities expected. The chairman confirmed that the tournament will be a once-off.
There will be no local football for about a month between November and December, so the PSL are coming up with ways to ensure that supporters can still watch their favourite clubs while the showpiece in Qatar is ongoing.
Previously the Carling Black Label Cup included only Soweto giants Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, but all the clubs in the DSTV Premiership will get an opportunity to be voted in by their supporters.
