In anticipation of this week's 1395th edition of Soccer Laduma, we preview some of the features included. The latest edition will be available at your nearest outlet on Thursday, 10th October 2024.
KAIZER CHIEFS
After just three matches under new coach Nasreddine Nabi, a lot has happened at Kaizer Chiefs already this season. We've seen some players step forward to claim starting berths and others find themselves stranded on the bench. There have been real opportunities for certain young players, whilst the previous crop of development 'stars in the making' have been completely frozen out. We look at the surprising rise of Wandile Duba in a wide role, contrasted with Ashley Du Preez finding himself sitting on the bench in every fixture so far. How has Duba suddenly leaped above a R10 million signing? Soccer Laduma investigates.
SIYA SPECIAL
A lot was expected when young South African players were making moves to the USA to play in Major League Soccer, but things have not been smooth sailing. Bongokuhle Hlongwane is making an impact at Minnesota United, but the players who followed after he made his move in 2022 have not been able to make a mark. Njabulo Blom, Cassius Mailula and Olwethu Makhanya have not been able to make a mark, and this has raised some questions. Soccer Laduma looks into the situation to find out how it's affecting both players and the national team, Bafana Bafana.
Thabang Monare's four-year spell with Orlando Pirates might have ended, but the experienced midfielder still has a lot to say about his time at the Soweto giants. Despite not playing regularly in the latter stages of his time with the Buccaneers, the 34-year-old still made the cut for the Bafana Bafana squad that competed in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, the Embalenhle-born midfielder opens up about his relationship with coach Jose Riveiro, while revealing the ambitions of Sekhukhune United.

Justice Chabalala
Justice Chabalala is one of the experienced players in the Chippa United squad spearheading their quest to finish the season inside the Top Eight. The former Orlando Pirates defender did well as the Chilli Boys collected four points from the draw against his former club Sekhukhune United and the win against TS Galaxy. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, Chabalala explains how coaches Kwanele Kopo and Thabo September have managed to turn things around for the Eastern Cape-based outfit as the team is sitting comfortably in fourth place.
International Feature
After spending years travelling to the world's biggest clubs learning their trade secrets and using that knowledge to build a reputation in the Portuguese professional leagues as a head coach, Acacio Santos received a surprise call from Jose Peseiro to accompany him on his project with Nigeria in 2022 as an assistant coach, with the Portugal-born duo ending up leading the Super Eagles to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, narrowly losing to Ivory Coast. In part one of this exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma, Santos shares incredible insight on that famous run to the final, what is next, and Stanley Nwabali's rise. Stay tuned for part two next week.
