The 25-year-old scored 15 goals in all competitions (including the CAF Champions League) in 40 appearances for the Buccaneers this season.

Lorch was also awarded the Players' Player of the Season award after picking up the most votes by his peers in the Absa Premiership.

Despite missing out on the Absa Premiership title, indications are that Lorch was the deserved winner on the night after many have sung his praises throughout the season.

Hlompho Kekana and Themba Zwane were also nominated for both awards, however, missed out to the Pirates playmaker.

Kekana, who has been hailed by many in the league as Footballer of the Season, including his own head coach, Pitso Mosimane, didn't go home empty handed despite missing out on the big accolade.

The 33-year-old received the Midfielder of the Season award after consistent performances for the Brazilians in the season passed.

Kekana made 45 appearances in all competitions including the CAF Champions League, scoring four goals.

In the league particularly, the Sundowns captain missed just one game all season, totalling 2582 minutes.

For the other awards, Pirates' Vincent Pule received the Goal of the Season award after his thunder strike against Polokwane City in the final league game of the season.

Elsewhere, Ronwen Williams was crowned the Absa Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season, having played in every single league encounter for SuperSport United.

Also at Matsatsantsa, Teboho Mokoena was named the Young Player of the Season.

In the cup competitions, Peter Leeuwenburgh received the MTN8 Last Man Standing award, Elvis Chipezeze was named the Telkom Knockout Player of the Tournament and Zakhele Lepasa was the Player of the Tournament in the Nedbank Cup.
