Fairytale stories keep coming out of Orlando Pirates and the latest one involves a player who has received a Bafana Bafana call-up less than a month after making his senior debut for the Buccaneers.
When Hugo Broos named his 41-man preliminary squad last week, there was a name on the list which caught the attention of many. That name was of young midfielder Simphiwe Selepe.

It's only been a month and Selepe is living a life many footballers way older than him can only dream of. His debut was against Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership and, a few weeks later, scored his first goal for the Buccaneers against AmaZulu. The cherry on top? A Bafana call-up to wrap up what's been an incredible month. Talk about a fairytale story.
Following the announcement of the Bafana squad at the SABC studios in Auckland Park on Thursday afternoon, Broos explained his decision to include the 20-year-old and made it clear that it's up to the player to make a mark in the upcoming friendlies against Tanzania and Mozambique.
"It's a good opportunitiy. If we played qualifiers, Selepe wouldn't be with the team, it is for sure. At the other end, I've always said age doesn't matter. And when I see the last three or four games Selepe played, I have to give him a chance. Maybe it will be too soon, but that we can only see when we put him in the team and when he is playing. The opportunity is very good to do it. He has talent. It's up to him," Broos said.

"He's a good midfielder. He's good in passing and he scored a goal even. He's not only defensive, he can also help the team offensively."
