After returning to the Amakhosi from his loan-spell with Chippa United, the 22-year-old parted ways with Chiefs at the end of last season as he looks ahead to the next step in his football career.
The latest news reaching the Siya crew is that Belgian Pro League club Lokeren, are reportedly interested in the Matombo's services and would like to pursue the interest further by inviting him on a trial at the club in order to have a closer look at the player.
A source close to the player has revealed that the Belgian outfit is impressed with that they see on tape, however, the club would like to assess the player first before making a final decision.
"He will be travelling to Belgium for assessment. The club has reviewed his profile and they are keen to see him soon. We are just busy pushing to secure a good deal in financial terms," the source told the Siya crew.
If Matombo does enough to land a professional contract with the club, the 22-year-old will meet up with South African Ayanda Patosi, who is currently one of Lokeren's key players.
The player is currently training with NFD club Mthatha Bucks, and since he is a free-agent, he will not be bound by the transfer window which closes shut on August, 31.
