DStv Premiership

Result: Swallows FC 1-1 SuperSport United

Date: 27 April 2021

Venue: Dobsonville Stadium

Swallows FC registered their 15th draw of the DStv Premiership season after sharing the spoils with SuperSport United on Tuesday evening.

The Birds recalled Sifiso Hlanti, Joseph Mhlongo and Fawaaz Basadien while SuperSport made two alterations, with Bradley Grobler and Keenan Phillips returning.

Matsatsantsa had an early chance to grab the lead in the 13th minute after Sipho Mbule found space to aim at goal on the edge of the box but his low drive was smothered by goalkeeper Virgil Vries.

United kept on putting Swallows under pressure, with Thatayaone Ditlhokwe presented with a chance to break the deadlock ten minutes before the break after a good cross Mbule but his effort was saved by Vries.

At the other end, Basadien broke the deadlock for the hosts with a header at the far post after getting on the end of Lebohang Mokoena's well-weighted cross.

SuperSport were fired up coming out for the second half and Mbule came close to snatching the equaliser ten minutes inside the second stanza with a strike from outside the box that was parried away by Vries.

Truter responded with a double change in the 65th minute, bringing on defender Givemore Khupe in place of Basadien and Daniel Gozar replaced Ruzaigh Gamildien for fresh legs upfront.

Gozar almost made the perfect impact in the last 20 minutes with a low drive from the edge of the box that was parried away by goalkeeper George Chigova.

However, Mbule finally levelled matters for Tembo's men in the last 12 minutes with a powerful header that found the top corner after a great cross by Phillips.

The game was there for the taking for either side in the dying minutes but Grobler squadered a glorious chance for the visitors by volleying over the crossbar with only Vries to beat, as the sides settled for a point apiece.
