DStv Premiership Report: Black Leopards v SuperSport United 24 April 2021

Result: Black Leopards 1-1 SuperSport United

Date: 24 April 2021

Venue: Thohoyandou Stadium

SuperSport United extended their winless run in the DStv Premiership to eight match after drawing 1-1 with Black Leopards on Saturday afternoon.

Leopards were gifted a good opportunity in the opening few minutes. Luke Fleurs misjudged the bounce of the ball and his header back to his goalkeeper didn't have enough on it allowing Ovidy Karuru to pounce and race through on goal before striking but his effort was well saved by the Matsatsantsa goalkeeper, who dived to his right to tip it away.

The visitors responded and very nearly took the lead. Jamie Webber played the one-two with Sipho Mbule and let fly on his left foot but it was slightly wide of the near post.

Soon after, Karuru held the ball up well on the edge of the box and teed up Ramagalela, whose powerfully struck effort whizzed just wide of the far post.

Lidoda Duvha were back on level terms in the 27th minute. Karuru played the ball to Maluleka who backheeled it through for the Zimbabwean and he fired the ball towards the bottom left-hand corner. Chigova saved down to his right but could only parry the ball into the path of Maluleka, who passed the ball into the back of the net.

Two minutes after the interval, Teboho Mokoena gave away the free-kick and Mathenjwa fired narrowly over from the resulting set-piece.

Thatayaone Ditlhokwe conceded a corner in the 50th minute. Roderick Kabwe swung in a delicious corner and Karuru headed inches wide from close range.

Soon after, Kabwe headed narrowly wide from an Ethan Sampson delivery. Sampson gave away a free-kick on the edge of the box in the 62nd minute and Mokoena curled the set-piece narrowly over the bar.

Soon after, Tembo's side countered quickly and Iqraam Rayners fed the ball to Guily Manziba down the right and he cut back inside on his left foot to make space for himself and unleashed an effort which went narrowly over the bar.

Grobler was introduced for Webber in the 74th minute and almost made the desired impact when he rose highest to meet Mahachi's cross but it was straight at Jonas Mendes.

Leopards thought they had snatched a late winner through Karuru, but the flag went up for offside as the game fizzled out to a draw.
