DStv Premiership Report: AmaZulu v Black Leopards 04 November 2020

Result: AmaZulu 2-0 Black Leopards

Date: 04 November 2020

Venue: Jonsson Kings Park

AmaZulu claimed their maiden victory in the DStv Premiership after beating Black Leopards 2-0 courtesy of a brace by Luvuyo Memela on Wednesday evening.

Xolani Mlambo, Augustine Mulenga, Limbikani Mzava and Makhehlene Makhaula were drafted in the Usuthu line-up while Leopards were boosted by the return of Pentjie Zulu, Ethen Sampson and Lifa Hlongwane.

Mulenga had the first good chance for the hosts in the 14th minute with a dipping strike from the edge of the box that missed the narrowly wide of the near post.

Ayanda Dlamini's charges kept on fashioning chances and Mario Booysen came close to breaking the deadlock with a header from a corner that missed slightly over the bar.

Lidoda Duvha were better organised in the closing phase of the first stanza, as they denied AmaZulu spaces behind their defence and the first stanza ended goalless.

The hosts were on the front foot in the early stages of the second stanza and Memela eventually broke the deadlock in the 77th minute with a well-placed shot after he was teed up by Sibusiso Magaqa.

Memela doubled the lead for Usuthu in the last seven minutes with a header from close range off Mulenga's cross to complete his brace.

Memela had a chance to get the third goal for AmaZulu in the last minute after combining with Mlamo  but his shot was saved by Jonas Mendes, although it did not matter in the end as they sealed their first victory while Leopards lost their third straight game.
