Baxter had to cancel a trip to Japan this week where he was due to coach in a charity game because of an illness that he has been struggling with, and the decision has been made for him to sit out the clash with the Germans.
The Amakhosi's head coach had been invited to coach in a game to commemorate 20 years since the awful Kobe Earthquake in 1995, with Khumalo always in place to deputise in his absence.
Speaking to the media today, Khumalo said, "Stuart was back at training today, but we're going to leave things the way they are. As you know, Stuart was meant to be leaving for Japan and I was supposed to take over, so on Friday he will be sat upstairs and I'll be taking control of the team.
"It's one of those opportunities that we've been looking at Kaizer Chiefs to enhance each other. If one coach is not feeling well we don't have to worry because we have a lot of muscle in the coaching department. It was our plan to have me coaching the boys against Hoffenheim and we didn't want to change that."
