According to sources close to Chiefs, both coach Nabi and his assistant, Cedric Kaze, are familiar with Diarra and believe he could add a new dimension to their goalkeeping department if signed.

"We believe that the club is still working on finding the right goalkeeper and that's why they are still looking at all the different profiles of different goalkeepers. Yes, they have apparently shown interest in Toaster Nsabata and Xolani Ngcobo but they have not finalised next season's signings yet and now they have inquired about Djigui (Diarra) from Yanga SC. It's a process from both the scouting department to the technical team and management before they sign. But, yes, they have inquired about that Yanga goalkeeper," the Siya source stated.

A second insider highlighted that Nabi and Kaze's familiarity with Diarra could play a crucial role in bringing him to Naturena.

"They are apparently looking at a goalkeeper that they know and has experience. So, out of the three, Nsabata, Ngcobo and now Diarra, it seems the coaches know Diarra much better, having worked with him before in Tanzania. So, for now it's just interest and an inquiry so let's see who they could finally get," the second source revealed.

The 30-year-old Mali international joined Yanga in 2021 and played under Nabi for two seasons, during which they won two league and cup doubles together.

Soccer Laduma reached out to Chiefs for comment, but there was no response at the time of publication.
