A decision is imminent at a DStv Premiership club on a defender who was previously linked with Orlando Pirates, the Siya crew has been informed.
Having joined Marumo Gallants this season on a short-term deal, Isaac Nhlapo will have his future under discussion at the Limpopo outfit now that the 2021/22 campaign is coming to an end.
While playing for Chippa United in the 2020/21 season, Nhlapo was linked with Pirates due to his progress at the Eastern Cape club.
The towering defender has been instrumental in the turnaround for Gallants under Dan Malesela, including his impressive performance when they knocked Pirates out of the Nedbank Cup on their way to the final, before he was disrupted on his progress by injury.
With the one-year contract he signed with Gallants last year set to expire at the end of next month, Nhlapo's representative Mandla Mthembu has confirmed the scheduled talks with the club about the 31-year-old centre-back.
"Yes, Nhlapho signed a short-term deal with Marumo Gallants which expires at the end of the season. He did well before getting injured and is now back in contention. We'll sit down at some point with the club, probably after the Nedbank Cup final to find a way forward," confirmed Mthembu.
