Word reaching the Siya crew is that former Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Bennett Masinga, has passed on.
His cousin, Philemon 'Chippa' Masinga has confirmed to the Siya crew that indeed 'Bennito', as the striker was known in football circles, passed away after a short illness.
"As a family we are shocked by the loss of my cousin. We will release all the details of funeral arrangements on Sunday after we have met as a family. He was not well but he could walk and was fit. At the moment I'm not well," said Masinga.
Bennito, played for the Chloorkop-based outfit in the 90's as well as Umtata Bush Bucks, Manning Rangers and Cape Town Santos.
Although 'Chippa' could not confirm when his cousin passed away, the former Sundowns striker was 48-years old.
The Soccer-Laduma family wishes to convey condolences to the Masinga family, friends and Sundowns.
