Arrows Skipper Says They're Desperate

Thanduyise Khuboni

Golden Arrows skipper, Thanduyise Khuboni, says they are confident of causing an upset against Kaizer Chiefs in their league fixture at FNB Stadium tonight.

The Durban side are teetering on the brink of relegation, and are highly charged up to face Amakhosi in a battle that pits the bottom side against the league's pacesetters. Arrows showed an improved performance in their last league match against Wits, but lost by 1-0, and are under massive pressure against Chiefs.

However, it will not be easy, as Stuart Baxter's side are fighting their own battle – opening up the gap on second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, who are breathing down their necks in the league table.

The 27-year-old Khuboni, who has been with the club since making his PSL debut in 2006, admits it won't be easy but that a positive result is achievable against the log leaders.

"Even though we have not managed to win in recent games, we are ready to face Chiefs. A win is possible. Yes, we have been struggling, but the difference could be that we are hungry. We are more desperate to collect maximum points. They are under pressure because they have the same number of points as Sundowns, so they will want to open that gap," he told the Siya crew.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder continued, "It will be a tough game for us and for them as well. We are in danger and we really need the points. The club's management has been motivating us and telling us not to think about staying in the league, but to focus on one game at a time and collecting points in those games. We'll see what happens after that."
