It was revealed by the Siya crew on Wednesday that former Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs' development player, Tshowana 'Dida' Mokonyana, passed away in a car accident.
On further investigations, it has now been revealed that Boikanyo was travelling with Dida and was involved in the car accident that took place during the early hours of Tuesday morning.
According to Tshidiso Moloi, who is University of Pretoria defender Thabo Moloi's brother, Boikanyo and Mokonyana were together with two girls in the car at the time of the accident.
As confirmed by Tshidiso Moloi, the BMW 220i that was involved in the accident belongs to his brother, Thabo Moloi. Thabo Moloi is currently on loan at Tuks from SuperSport United.
"I am Thabo Moloi's big brother and I was with the guys prior to the car accident. The car that was involved in the accident was taken from me by the guys. I was with the guys on Monday afternoon and everything looked fine, without anything bothering us.
"When we decided at night (on Monday) that we were tired and it was time to go and sleep, we went to Thabo's house, my brother. Because there were (too) many of us to sleep in one house, it was decided that others should go and sleep at Tshepo's house.
"Tshepo (Mosiatlhaga) plays for AmaTuks (on loan from SuperSport United). I drove with Tshepo and the other guys and girls that were there with us. Dida (Mokonyana) said he would be coming with Luvuyo Manyonga, who recently won at the Olympics (Manyonga won a silver medal in the long jump at the Rio Olympics). Luvuyo was with us.
"People went to sleep one by one as the night went on. When I went to sleep, the two guys that were still awake were Dida and Kea (Keamogetswe), as well as a girl called Lebo. I went to bed in my jeans but Kea came and told me not to sleep like that, as I had car keys, cellphone and wallet in my pockets. I agreed to what he said and I gave him everything that was in my pockets. I asked him to put everything on the coffee table and I slept.
"Around 4am on Tuesday, I woke up and went to the toilet. That's when I noticed that Dida, Kea no mntwana u (and the girl) Lebo were not in the house. The car keys were not there. I called and both their phones were on voicemail. We found ourselves stuck in the house with the doors locked. They locked us inside the house as they must have thought that they would return to the house quickly.
"Then, we later found out that the car was involved in an accident and that Dida was no more. I hear that Kea was driving. I hear that he might have badly hurt his tongue in the accident and is in ICU (intensive care unit) in hospital.
"The two girls they were travelling with are also in hospital. We managed to make our way to the scene and found Dida dead. The accident happened in Acardia not far from the Union Buildings," said Moloi.
