Ajax Goalscorer, Morris Dreaming

Ajax Goalscorer, Morris Dreaming

Kaizer Chiefs were defeated 1-0 by Ajax Cape Town last night following a late header by teenager, Tasreeq Morris. The 19-year-old was a late substitute for Lebogang Manyama in the 80th minute, and took just six minutes to score his full PSL debut goal.

The late strike shocked Chiefs who slumped to their first defeat in seven outings. It led some to question whether Stuart Baxter's selection of a back five was the right way to go about things. Nonetheless, Ajax played well overall and probably just deserved to take the victory.

The Siya crew got in touch with Morris to discuss what scoring against Chiefs meant to him in his young career so far. He said, "It's always such a good feeling to score against such a big club. It's my dream to play on such a big stage. Before, I played in the Telkom Knockout against SuperSport United and this was my PSL debut against Chiefs. In the week before the game the coaches were saying that they were very impressed and I could get my chance, which I did."

Morris also spoke about his history as a youth development product at Ikamva.

"I started playing for Ajax from the age of nine. I've been with the club all of my football career. I'm actually a striker or number nine. But the coach can play me as a winger or a number 10."
