Golden Arrows put an end to a four-game losing run in the Absa Premiership with a 1-0 victory over struggling Baroka FC on Wednesday evening.
It was an evenly contested affair in the early stages, although both sides struggled to carve out clear-cut chances at goal in the opening 15 minutes.
However, Baroka were forced into an early first-half change as Goodman Mosele made way for Kulegani Madondo after just 17 minutes played.
Steve Komphela's troop kept pushing as the half went on, with Danny Venter, who scored the winner in the reverse fixture this season, going close with a strike after 28 minutes.
That proved to be the last real opening in the first half, although Baroka made another change first-half substitution just before the halftime break as Sbonela Ngubane replaced Phelelani Shozi.
Arrows had to wait until the hour mark to carve out a serious opening as Danny Phiri collected a pass at the far post but the midfielder was unable to connect.
The opening goal eventually arrived after 70 minutes, with Gladwin Shitolo finding the back of the net with a neat finish past Baroka goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze.
Komphela's troops were able to see out the latter stages of the half, while Baroka finished the game with 10 men after Manuel Kambala was given a red card in the final five minutes.
