Absa Premiership
Teams: Bloemfontein Celtic 2-0 MP Black Aces
Date: 2 March 2014
Venue: Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium
A second half brace from Lerato Lamola saw Bloemfontein Celtic to a 2-0 win over MP Black Aces in an Absa Premiership match at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The opening 45 minutes saw Celtic with the majority of possession and the more shots on goal.
Aces, on the other hand, struggled to get hold of the ball and offered very little in attack.
The side from Bloemfontein created their first chance on goal in the fifth minute when Musa Nyatama forced his way into the box, but saw his shot from an acute angle on the left well-saved by Bafana Nhlapo.
Eight minutes later Joel Mogorosi met a corner-kick from Keagan Buchaman, but his header went inches over the Ace's crossbar.
In the 18th minute Celtic were on the attack again as Joel Mogorosi curled an effort just wide of the target.
On the half hour mark Aces created their only decent chance of the half when Thabo Qalinge tried his luck from distance, but saw his effort go wide of the post.
Four minutes later Celtic created their best chance of the half when Mogorosi found himself in space just inside the box, but he saw his stinging effort acrobatically tipped round the post by Nhlapo.
The half ended 0-0.
Celtic continued to dominate proceedings in the second 45 and they finally made their pressure tell four minutes after the restart when Lamola powered the ball home from an acute angel on the right, 1-0.
Lamola then doubled Celtic's lead five minutes later when Davis Nkausa played him through on goal and he made no mistake with a clinical finish, 2-0.
The home side took their foot of the gas as they looked to control the possession stakes and starved Aces of the ball.
The side from Mpumalanga struggled in front of goal and only created their next decent effort in the 71st minute as Qalinge shot from distance, but it sailed wide.
Aces' day got even worse when Mbulelo Mabizela was sent for an early shower after receiving a red card in the 85th minute for a foul on Alfred Ndengane.
Celtic held on for a comfortable win as the match ended 2-0 in favour of the home side.
