Ex-Downs Keeper Brought In To Help Fight Relegation

In an effort to avoid relegation, Motsepe Foundation Championship club Leruma United have brought in some experienced players to bolster their squad and the lasted is a former Mamelodi Sundowns and Marumo Gallants goalkeeper.

After signing Naeem Amoojee and Lucky Mohomi as free agents, the bottom of the table club have signed goalkeeper Abram Ngcobo, who brings valuable experience to the club.

Ngcobo, who was previously on the books of Casric Stars, has signed a deal until the end of the season on Wednesday. He joins a goalkeeping department that has Senzo Sithole and Tsoumbou Steeven, who is from Gabon.

"I feel happy about joining the club. Getting to work with (goalkeeper) coach Walter Khumalo is great and I am looking forward to achieving the mandate. I want to help the club to get as many points as possible, so that we can retain the status of the team. Then we can see what next season has for us," Ngcobo said to the Siya crew.

"I've signed for six months and then after the team has survived, we will renegotiate."

Leruma, who are coached by Musa Nyatama, are bottom of the standings on 13 points after 17 matches and take on Hungry Lions in Upington City, hoping to get an important victory away from home. They have not won a match away from home since September last year, when they beat Venda FC at Thohoyandou Stadium.

Ngcobo is in the matchday squad for the clash against Lions today and will be hoping to make his debut for the club.
