Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Giovanni Solinas says that he is a Free State Stars supporter.
The Italian head coach’s first coaching stint in the Premier Soccer League was for Ea Lla Koto in the year 2015, with Solinas revealing that he is grateful for the opportunity that he was given by the Stars management.
However, the Italian will now need to come up against his former side today, Tuesday, September 18, for the first time in the 2018/19 campaign, when Chiefs travel away to lock horns with Ea Lla Koto in the Free State.
Speaking to the media, Solinas admitted that it will be a special game for himself, adding that he wishes Ea Lla Koto all the best for the current campaign.
“It is a special game for me, me I spent a great time in Bethlehem, I want to thank the Mokoena family, the chairman, because they gave me the opportunity to work in South Africa, for me it is a special game, yes it is (emotional),” he said after Chiefs’ 4-1 victory over Cape Town City on the weekend.
“Me, I am a Free State Star fan, when Free State Stars play against Chiefs this is the life, this is football. Me, I have to take the responsibility, I play and try to win the game but I respect Free State Stars. I support them and I wish them all the best for the league, for the best, I wish Ea Lla Koto the best success but Tuesday is a battle, it is a football game, everyone (pushes) for our side,” he added.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 19:30.
