Swallows To Bring Back Former Player?

The Siya crew has been informed that Swallows FC are looking to bring back winger Joseph Mhlongo, but could prove to be a challenge surrounding the club's transfer ban.

The Dube Birds were recently handed a transfer ban by FIFA for outstanding monies owed to former players, Vladimir Mandic and Obren Cuckovic. The club has been looking to resolve the matter to have the ban overturned, but there could be challenges in getting that done, even after paying the R3 million owed to the former players.

While the matter is still pending, it's understood that the Dube Birds have been talking to Mhlongo, who left the club at the end of June after his contract was not renewed.

"A return to Swallows is on the cards after the exit of Dylan Kerr," a well-placed source told the Siya crew.

The Siya crew reported that Mhlongo's contract at Swallows was not renewed when it expired at the end of June. He trained with SuperSport United, as reported by the Siya crew, but a deal did not materialize.

At the time, SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews said: "We won't be signing him."

The player is believed to have been in conversation with Swallows management in recent times, but may have to wait for an outcome by the club, who have been banned from registering players until 2024.
