Pitso Mosimane did not have many regrets about the Mamelodi Sundowns team he put out against Kaizer Chiefs in the Shell Helix Ultra Cup at the weekend, but the coach's one big admission was that he may have rushed one player.
Tokelo Rantie finally got a chance to play for his new club on Saturday, but with Downs being thrashed 4-2 by Amakhosi, Mosimane suggested it was perhaps too early to have given the striker a run against a team in such good form.
"We got to give everyone a chance to play and we wanted to see where Tokelo is and that is why we gave him a chance. The guy hasn't played football for almost two years," Mosimane said in his assessment of the forward. Rantie was substituted at half-time.
"And then we give him this big game here. We threw him in the deep end too early. But he has had a good pre-season and I must give him and everybody a chance to play. It's important, let them play," the coach added.

"What is important was to check where we are – and to check Chiefs because they are a very strong team. There are a lot of negatives from my team. In the second half I made sure it is not embarrassing because people are watching at home. But we will meet again in two weeks (in an Absa Premiership clash on October 27)."
