Pitso Mosimane's Al Ahly reclaimed top spot in the Egyptian Premier League with a 4-1 victory over Pharco on Tuesday evening.
Result: Pharco 1-4 Al Ahly
Date: 01 March 2022
Venue: Alexandria Stadium
Luis Miquissone was restored to the attack after missing out on Saturday against Al Ahly, while Percy Tau was named on the bench once again as he continues to regain full fitness.
The Red Devils made their intentions clear from the onset after star forward Mohamed Sherif opened the scoring on five minutes.
Mohamed Afsha was also back in the side and repaid the faith by doubling the lead two minutes, before he completed his brace in the 12th minute after being set up by Sherif.
The hosts were left shocked after Al Ahly's fast start, but managed to pull a goal back four minutes later thank to Ahmed El Sighiry after an error from goalkeeper Mohamed El Shennawy.
That, surprisingly, was the final goal of the opening 45 minutes as Mosimane's charges were unable to add to their tally.
The South African tactican opted for a double change at start of the second half, as Tau replaced Miquissone while Hamdi Fathi made way for Aliou Dieng.
The visitors pushed for more goals but had to wait until the 87th minute for the fourth goal, with Hussein El Shahat adding his name to scoresheet as Mosimane's men leapfrog Pyramids FC into top spot.
