With eight incoming players at Kaizer Chiefs, Fabian McCarthy believes that Steve Komphela will be under more pressure to get results next season.
Chiefs announced eight new signings last week Monday, including the likes of Keagan Buchanan and Ramahlwe Mphahlele, which McCarthy believes will put added pressure on Steve Komphela to bring silverware to the club, after failing to do so in 2015/16.
“There is always pressure at Chiefs whether you are a coach or a player,” the former Amakhosi defender told the Siya crew. “Now with the new signings Komphela is under pressure to win trophies.”
However, McCarthy is confident that Komphela is capable of delivering the results that will demanded by the club’s fans and management.
“Knowing Steve he will be able to deliver,” he continued. “He was at the team as a player and now as a coach. He knows the culture of the team and that is an advantage to him.”
Komphela has until 30 July to prepare himself for the new season, when Chiefs take on Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup.
