A warning has been issued to current footballers by former professional player Gerald Modabi, who admits to having made some mistakes during his time playing in the professional ranks.
In the prime of his career, Modabi played for Jomo Cosmos, Dynamos and Orlando Pirates among other clubs.
The former midfielder feels that he could have made use of his opportunity at the Buccaneers by delivering more than he did.
"Sometimes as the players we forget why we are at soccer clubs. I was one big culprit of that. I used to forget how massively talented I was. I focused on pushing other issues that had nothing to do with what I was at the club for," Modabi told the Siya crew.
"Once that happens, you end up being overshadowed by your teammates who are unfortunately your competitors, because at the end of the day you are all there for work and you have to express your God-given talent. When you get swayed into focusing on other issues it doesn't end well when it is time to re-assess contracts and things like that," he added.
