Mamelodi Sundowns & Bafana Bafana midfielder, Bongani Zungu, has signed a pre contract with Vitória de Guimarães for next season.
The news was this evening confirmed by the player's agent, however the 23-year-old will only move to Portugal at the end of the season and will complete the 2015/16 campaign with Masandawana.
Steve Kapeluschnik, the player's representative, confirmed that the South African international has signed a two-year contract in Portugal that will begin at the start of next season, and that the player will join up with his club at the end of this season.
Kapeluschnik pointed out that he felt the move was right for the player, and that hopefully his move to a strong league like Portugal's can prove to be a healthy stepping stone for him.
He said, "“We have spent a considerable amount of time and energy looking at and meeting with various clubs all over the world and after careful consideration Bongani has decided to join Guimaraes.”
"There were many teams keen to sign the player, but it was felt that he should join a league where most importantly he will get game-time and join a club that is happy to develop and sell players on to bigger leagues in Europe.
"Guimaraes are currently sitting in position six in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and have just beaten FC Porto in a league match. Portugal is currently ranked as the eighth strongest national football league in the world, according to IFFHS."
