Bidvest Wits’ in-form English striker, James Keene, has reportedly attracted interest from within the PSL and abroad.
The 30-year-old currently has the best goals-per-minute ratio in the Absa Premiership after scoring seven goals in his first 10 league games with the club, while also scoring the winner in their first Nedbank Cup game this season.
Now, with eight goals in his 11 games played so far, the Siya crew has been informed that a number of Absa Premiership clubs have been sniffing around the Clever Boys forward, while there is also believed to be interest from outside of the country as well.
Keene has spent many years playing around the world having turned out in England, Sweden, India and Israel, however he is enjoying some of his best form in front of goal right here in South Africa.
It is believed that Wits, who have the opportunity to extend Keene’s contract, will exercise their option in the coming months as they seek to keep the English forward at the club beyond the current season.
The crew is led to believe that Wits have until the end of the season to exercise their one-year option on the striker, however, if they decide against it, then he will be able to move on for free when his contract expires in June. Keene is currently the joint sixth top scorer in the Absa Premiership this season and will be hoping to add to his tally in the Sturrock Park-based outfit's remaining league and cup games of the 2015/16 campaign.
Keene was training with Kaizer Chiefs last year, but nothing came out of it and it now remains to be seen if they will be tempted to offer him a deal should he become available at the end of the season.
What advice would you offer Keene regarding his future? Where should his next move be, if he decides to leave?
