International Friendly

Result: Italy 0-0 Germany

Date: 15 November 2016

Venue: Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

Germany and Italy could not be separated, as they played out a 0-0 draw in an international friendly at the San Siro.

The World Champions made a total of eight changes from the their previous encounter, while Giampiero Ventura only opted for four changes for the friendly.

The first real opening at goal arrived after 19 minutes when Leon Goretzka tried his luck from distance, but Gianluigi Buffon was equal to the long range effort.

Buffon came to Italy's rescue once again in the 29th minute, as the veteran shot-stopper rushed off his line to thwart Goretzka from six-yards out.

That proved to be the final piece of goal-mouth action in the first half, as the sides went into the break level at 0-0.

Both nations made a change at the start of the second half, as Gianluigi Donnarumma replaced Buffon. While, Germany introduced Jonathan Tah for Mats Hummels.

Germany had the ball in the back of the net after 62 minutes when Kevin Volland poked home from close range, but the striker was flagged offside.

Italy nearly snatched the win in the 82nd minute, but Andrea Belotti's snapshot rattled the frame of the goal with Bernd Leno well beaten.

Nonetheless, neither side could break the deadlock in the closing stages and had to settle for a draw.
