The EA FIFA 21 Team of the Year has been announced, and despite over 10 million votes from around the world, Lionel Messi did not make the cut.

Voting opened early in January for fans and players to pick their best XI from 2020 from a list of nominees.
FC Barcelona's Messi was among the forwards available to vote for but did not grab one of the three spots on offer.

European champions Bayern Munich received the highest number of players in the team, with four stars being selected, while Premier League champions, Liverpool, saw two of their stars make the team.
However, there was also no space for African superstars, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
