Portugal superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo, was welcomed like a rock star when he returned to Portugal’s training on Wednesday.
Ronaldo only trained for about 45 minutes before having ice applied to his troublesome left knee, a pre-caution which has been seen regularly over the last few days.
The 29-year-old looked much more relaxed than after his side’s disappointing 4-0 defeat to Germany when he stormed past reporters and avoided answering questions.
Ronaldo himself was a only a shadow against Germany, but all that was forgotten when he arrived on Portugal’s training pitch at the Estadio Moises Lucarelli yesterday.
Thousands of fans awaited the 2013 FIFA Ballon d’Or winner and hordes of teenage girls screamed his name.
Portugal coach, Paulo Bento, confirmed Ronaldo was doing well physically after the Germany game and brushed off rumours that the superstar won’t feature in the tournament anymore.
The Europeans will face the USA in Manaus on Sunday, 22 June, and need to beat the Americans to stand a chance of reaching the second round.
